We need Great Faith

¶ Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon. And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil. But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us. But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me. But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to dogs. And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table. Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour. (Matthew 15:21-28)

This is a message of Faith.  Faith in who Yeshua is.  Faith despite the circumstance and the condition.  Yeshua and his disciples were on the outskirts of Israel.  They were on the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.  The woman who approached Yeshua had heard about the foretold Messiah in Israel.  His reputation had spread with his message of deliverance. She had already developed a large amount of Faith  that he would deliver her daughter and probably anticipated the encounter with the Savior.  Like the men who opened the roof where Yeshua was speaking and brought their friend to be healed. “And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four. And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay. (Mark 2:3-4 )”.  Also like  the Centurion who like her was not a Jew but because of Faith which transcends and transforms came to him for the healing of his servant. ¶ And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a Centurion, beseeching him, And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented. (Matthew 8:5-6)    

The circumstance:  This woman was described in the gospel of Mark and in Matthew’s Gospel combined as a Gentile, a Greek, from Canaan and a Syro-Phenician by nation,  also her daughter was not with her.  Her natural familial and national situation were all against her.  Yeshua proclaimed many times that his ministry was to the Jews first.  The woman was by birth a Canaanite who were all supposed to be killed off when the Jews entered the promised land. It was Ham’s son Canaan who Noah cursed.  The Syrians and the Phoneticians were stained with sin because they worshiped false deities and were cursed by YHWH.

Her condition was dire.  She described her daughter as being grievously vexed with a devil.  The child was being tormented and torment not only affects the person but those that are around them.  Again, much like the centurion’s servant who was grievously tormented.  The young man whom his friends had Faith for was born of palsy/paralysis, he needed to be cared for all of his life and if his family was poor they experienced the torment with him. There is no mention of the woman’s husband.  If she were a widow her pain would have been double that of a married woman.  

Like the woman with the issue, she did not let her  negative circumstance and condition defeat her.   Faith will cause you to imagine the probable positive outcome and it causes an individual to leap into action when the opportunity arises.  She did not allow a drawback spirit deter her from getting here deliverance.  Even when Yeshua himself immediately denied her and reminded her of her inauspicious position the woman persisted.  When Yeshua reminded her she dug even deeper into her well of Faith and worship sprang forth.  There is not doubt that she fell to her knees and cried, getting as low as possible with all humility yet boldly to the throne of mercy at the feet of Yeshua standing in front of her.  Initially it appears that Yeshua had turned his back on her after hearing the response from the disciples saying “send her away”.  But her persistence paid off especially in the fact that she was not praying for her deliverance but specifically for the deliverance of her child.

YHWH requires this type of Faith from the Saints.  Yeshua said of only two people, this woman and the centurion as having “great Faith”.  You must understand that your deliverance depends on your Faith.  And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. (Matthew 17:20).  We must trust and know that YHWH wants us to be delivered from all negative situations and circumstances.  If you find yourself in a bind and you did not cause it by sin, weakness or ignorance of the word and will of YHWH then know YHWH wants to get the Glory from the situation.  We learn this from Job. The Israelite were caught between the Sea of Reeds and the Egyptian army but the salvation of YHWH was standing in front of them.  YHWH delivered them by water..  By the water they were to flee and YHWH would get the glory in the destruction of the Egyptian army.  Yeshua is the way, there is an escape for every sin,  sickness disease and torment and that is through the sea of Faith.  You must build upon Faith with obedience to His will, obedience is a fruit of faith.  Draw close through prayer fasting and mediation of his word.  If your situation does not get better, check yourself to see if you are “in the Faith”  and you have to dig deeper into the well of Faith like the Syro-Phenician woman. 

Faith comes by hearing the Word of YHWH, like the Gentile, a Greek, from Canaan and a Syro-phenician by nation woman heard of Yeshua, she believed that deliverance would come to her and she took the opportunity and received what she wanted.  How much more will YHWH deliver his own.  Learn from this woman, she had Faith in the right thing.  Too many Saints are believing YHWH for the wrong things.  You want to believe for a car or a house when you should be believing for YHWH to save and deliver a soul through you. We have to trust Yeshua for our healing, mind body and spirit.  Do these things and he will take care of the rest.  Sometimes you must leave your gift on the alter, go and repent to you neighbor, friend or foe then when you return you will find deliverance.

Faith moves mountains, part seas, opens doors for healing and deliverance.  Faith will also move YHWH.  He wants to see your Faith, he want to see you all grown up in Faith.  Operate in Faith, let Faith move in you. Faith is a gift of the Holy Spirit and a Fruit of the Holy Spirit and having “Great Faith” will cause you to be successful in the Kingdom!

Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. (I John 4:1-4)

Something has to be said about the difference between a person being tormented by a devil,  a person having a mental physiological torment and a disease.

Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; (I Timothy 4:1)
