A Spiritual message for the Moment

It is said that Rome fell not from the swords of the so called barbarian kingdoms of the west but because of a steady decline, a back sliding,  not of virtue but a loss of political control which trickled down to the local level to factors such as the weakening of the army, the civil administration, even the  physical health of the empire’s population and the economy.  There is also evidence that climate change and disease also fueled their demise. The internal strivings of Rome were the catalyst that made it vulnerable to be toppled by other rising powers.  There are many strivings going on in America today and elephant hiding behind the small twig is the face of intolerance.  It’s not just America against Afro Americans anymore, its a two faced self inflicting battle between the varied groups of Americans and political leaders pulling on their strings that enhances the madness.  Everybody is waving their own flag and many are saying that they are right and everybody else is wrong.  The reality is that every one deserves representation but the striving is laced with vitriol-ism. Hatred for other groups. I will say without reservation that there is a triple pronged attack on African Americans, there is one segment of our people making it hard to see us prolific and culturally healthy as any other ethnic groups.  That is  another discussion though.  The bottom line is there are too many flags being waved in this country, not just speaking of ethnicity and flags from other countries, this nation is built with a fabric of ethnic diversity and all must be respected despite the “bad apples”.  There are bad apples in every group, poisoning the whole barrel of every type of group that exist in this country. The point is that America is fighting America while the government is stepping over it’s citizens rights and the world is watching.

America was essentially a nation who was schizophrenic from the start, no disrespect but we will never forget the two sides of the coin of America, on one side the “Peculiar institution”, Jim Crow, oppression and disenfranchisement, especially since the ladder still occurs,  the other side of the coin a people thirsty for freedom  and desiring to be released from the bondage of a  colonizer, and has turned from civility to barbarism. The actions of the present government are authoritarian and there are citizens who will run you down in the street calling it patriotism or run you though with a knife at a traffic stop and rioters perverting non-violent protest. I would be remiss to leave out the corporate barbarism, sexual immorality , the splurging of bodies and sexuality in every commercial on the screen and commercializing it, businesses price gouging, the overly excessive greed of many of the most wealthy, plundering ,rioting downtown, self idolization, the idolization of celebrities, killing and disregard for human life and the life of the planet and animals.  If that is not barbaric, immoral behavior, what is?  Civility is not, speaking proper America’s version of English, or fine dining or possessing wealth.  Civility is clean moral living.  Not breaking the law.  The purpose of man’s law is to keep each person from offending his neighbor although we know that you cannot legislate civil or moral behavior and if they did, the cheaters would find a loophole but essentially the law is for the lawless (the barbaric). We are reminded by the holy Word in I Timothy 1:9,10: “Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,” For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;”  The sound, moral, civil mind does not do these things.

The barbaric psyche proclaims “everybody is an other”, outside of my social group. These are “small circles of life”  individuals with a closed approach on life. They could be tribes, religious groups, gangs, the youth and of course heads of States.  This chain must be broken in our society to prevent the implosion of America.  The circumstances you find yourself in should not create or shape your outlook and approach to life and it should not develop a narrow or biased perspective in you.  In this look at me, hear me, follow me society, the technological medical and scientific progress is being stifled by barbaric thinking.  Man must advance spiritually and in Christ.  The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness therof, the time of the gentiles is closing out and in peoples striving for hegemony in society, in the classroom, in the boardroom and in politics is going to come to an end.  

The Elders used to say, “only what you do for Christ will last”. Heaven and earth will pass away but the rule of YHWH will prevail. This was the essence of Yeshua’s “Sermon on the Mount”.  The spiritual life is one of give and not take, of love and not hate.  If you concentrate on otherishness, YHWH will provide everything that you need and desire according to his will because it is his pleasure to give you the desires of your heart and he already knows what you need want and pray for.  He just requires your obedience to Faith in him.
