There is always something to pray about

And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man: And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary. And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? (Luke 18:1-8)

This parable is much like The parable of the friend at Midnight, both parables speak on persistence in prayer and in both there is evidence that YHWH yields to the Saint’persistent consistent prayer of the Saints. When Israel was in the wilderness Moshe repeatedly had to intercede for them. The ways of YHWH are higher than ours so we may think the outcome of an event may be one way based on human calculations but when we apply the formula of persistence in prayer plus faith in the Word over rationality YHWH will turn it to your favor. There have been many sermons based on this persistence in prayer but I would like to extract from this parable the idea that there is always something to pray about. Some may say that it doesn’t take all that, that praying so much is not necessary but if you find one who doesn’t like praying you will find one who doesn’t have a sound relationship with YHWH. and you will find him tittering in all aspects of life.  Praying is also  leaning on YHWH.  Another may not find words to pray but the Spirit helps us in our infirmities, “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. (Romans 8:26-27)”, helping us to pray and understand the things that we ought to pray for.  You will find out that with maturity in your conversation with YHWH you will not always pray for yourself and your situation but you will find yourself praying for others as part of spiritual warfare and prayer being one of greatest  weapons. “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; (Ephesians 6:18)”.

We have been charged by Yeshua to battle in a spiritual war and we need spiritual help. YHWH has called us from the superficial into the supernatural and we need to be in constant fellowship with the Father in Heaven, our King Yeshua in the Holy Spirit.  That is done by walking and talking in the Spirit. Yeshua and the Word teaches us how to do it, the Holy Spirit guides us in the process.  

There is one concept that many struggle to grasp when it comes to their walk with YHWH and that is to have total dependence on Him.  To depend on YHWH is not the same as trusting someone in the natural sense.  You can trust someone and not depend on them. Depending on YHWH means a total reliance and yielding to his Word and will.  King Solomon by the spirit of wisdom wrote, “ ¶ Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6)”. Leaning means to support oneself, he says let YHWH support you and you won’t fall or fail in anything that you do. Trusting YHWH is related to the phrase“throw one down upon his face”, yielding completely. It shows your dependence and trust in YHWH.  Prayer and thirst for his word shows your dependence on Him. Praise and worship shows your devotion and  trust is a condition for deliverance.  Daniel didn’t set out to fast 21 days.  He was persistent in his prayer and fasting until the Angel Gabriel came to him with an answer.

The widow in this parable was persistent with specificity about her plea. She like Hanna had an adversary and petitioned for justice.  The difference is that this widow went to an unrighteous judge and Hanna went directly to YHWH.  In the end the judge who had no regard for YHWH or man avenged the widow because of her persistence  YHWH wants us to know that prayer is an integral  part of our lives and not just something you do when you come to the house of worship.  Prayer should be fervent and with intent.  Not just for your need, the Lord in not a genie in a bottle although he wants to give you the desires of your pure unselfish heart.  He is more than willing to avenge the Saints and he wants a consistent persistent  unselfish  prayer life from you. Consistency is sister to persistence.  We must be consistent in our prayer life as a sun rises over the horizon every morning and as nature runs it’s course despite the inconsistency of mankind.  There is much to pray about, there is plenty of spiritual work to do.  Yeshua said “occupy till I come” make persistent consistent prayer be a part of that and YHWH will graciously fill your cup and it will overflow.

Blessed be the LORD, because he hath heard the voice of my supplications. The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him. The LORD is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed. Save thy people, and bless thine inheritance: feed them also, and lift them up for ever. (Psalms 28:6-9)
