Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour. And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple; Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms. And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us. And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them. Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. (Acts 3:1-6)
This act of grace compassion through the Holy Spirit was the first miracle of healing done through the Apostles. Yeshua gave the Apostles and all who believe the command to heal the sick as part of our ministry of reconconciliation. Before Yeshua gave of the ghost on the cross he proclaimed, “it is finished”, he masterfully completed his earthly ministry in obedience to the Father in Heaven. Before ascending into Heaven he passed the torch to every believer. After the Day of Pentecost, the Apostles continued daily with one accord in obedience to the Word of the Lord. Peter and John continued offering prays at the temple as part of their ministry and as they approached the entrance of the Temple they saw a lame man begging for alms. There is no doubt that there were many who begged at the gate but the Apostle’s attention was on this one man. The man was born lame and he was sitting at he gate of the temple asking for alms. It had been 50 days since the resurrection and much of Israel were blind, those who did not believe, did not recognize the light of life when he came to his own to deliver them form sin. This man was looking for change in the form of alms but he received an unexpected change, his life was transformed. Yeshua came to change our lives, the status of our or being from lost to saved, form corruption to incorruptible, from death to life.
At some point we all were like this lame man who had a disability from birth. We were born in sin and could not see the light of life until we received his word, repented and were renewed by his Holy Spirit. We were looking for things to bring us relief from the disabilities of sin but looking in the wrong places in the wrong way. What is your purpose in life and what is your method of getting there? YHWH has and is the way to abundant and everlasting life. The Christian should have their eyes fixed on The Lord trusting in him to provide our every need. Trusting in his ability to relieve us of our inabilities. When YHWH created the Heavens and the Earth, he gave them light, he filled all things and made them to reproduce continually. When he saved you and filled you with the Light of His Spirit he filled you with the gifts and fruits to excel continually and you are to reproduce in and with the fruit that he has given to you. Also giving him our gifts, that he gave us so that we can be in his will which will glorify YHWH and he will multiply his goodness in you. Giving you grace to see him and the light of living in the glow of his Love.
This lame man was not looking for healing but by the grace of YHWH he became a testimony down through the generations and all of the Glory goes to YHWH. His life was changed tremendously. Instead of begging being a consumer he could now become a producer. He can now add to society instead of being dependent on others and drawing from society. When you truly become part of the Kingdom of YHWH and attain your spiritual strength you become a giver and not a taker, a lender and not a borrower pleasing and glorifying YHWH. We must stop looking for carnal things of the world and being worldly. Paul through the Holy Spirit exhorts us, “ And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (Romans 12:2)”. Don’t be conformed to this age and the world of sin. You cannot serve two masters straddling the fence, you will always be confounded, not sure , frustrated, defeated, consuming the deception of the wicked one and blind. YHWH. transforms us taking away the old and giving us newness of life. Old things, the things of death and sin and corruption are passed away, let them go and all things will become new.
It was after Pentecost, the Jewish feast of weeks, the beginning of harvest season. When all of the planting, and pruning was done. The fulfillment of the work that YHWH had done, be fruitful and multiply. The seed had produced and the reapers would enter in and reap the benefits of their labor. This exemplifies the goodness of the Lord. Yeshua had risen and He fulfilled the promise of sending the Comforter. The Apostles and all who were in the upper room in obedience to Yeshua received power from on high. They saw fiery cloven tongues, were filled with the Holy Spirit and immediately they were changed. The lame man was not lame anymore, his life was transformed and made better. YHWH has made our lives better, his eyes are always fixed on the righteous willing to give us the desires of our heart. We only need to fix our hearts on him in obedience to his word and all that we have, forsaking this world and he will transform you into a new life.
